PS4 will support used games, says Sony - CNET

Looks like the PlayStation 4 (PS4) will support used games after all, now that Shuhei Yoshida, head honcho of Sony Worldwide Studios, has stepped forward to clarity this matter. When probed by game review site Eurogamer on the consumers' rights on sharing games distributed in a disc, he was quoted saying, "they purchase physical form, they want to use it everywhere, right? So that's my expectation".

Asked on the possibility of users reselling a PS4 game, Yoshida further added: "So, used games can play on PS4. How is that?". The rumors of an anti-used game function first appeared after a Sony patent was recently unveiled. It documents an electronic content processing system and an apparatus, which can register a game disc to a user account. There is no explicit mention of blocking used games, though.

On a separate note, the upcoming Xbox 720 is also rumored to be equipped with some kind of anti-used game function. The Microsoft's next-generation console is expected to be launched within this year as well.
