Samsung Note Pro 12.2 up for preorder at a massive $850 - Firstpost

Samsung's mammoth-sized tablet, Galaxy Note Pro 12.2, is now available for preorder at a hefty price of $850, which translates to around Rs 53,000. One can expect the device to be priced slightly higher than the said price in the Indian market, considering the taxes. Targeted at premium users, this device is very likely be out of reach of most of its Indian audiences. At the CES last month, the company had released details about the Note Pro 12.2, but there was no word on the pricing or availability. Office Depot has put it up for preorder and promises a release date of February 13.

The Galaxy Note Pro 12.2 is pretty much identical to the Galaxy Note 10.1 2014 Edition with some slight modifications.  The new device has a larger screen, a slightly bigger battery and some new software tweaks. It also adds the popular SPen functionality, which is probably the reason behind the hefty price tag. It also comes pre-loaded with Cisco WebEx Meetings platform which finally lets Android users share anything on their screen as well as start a WebEx meeting.

Some of the other device specs include a 12.2-inch display with 2,560×1,600 pixel of resolution, Android 4.4 KitKat, and 64GB onboard storage. It includes a slew of connectivity options such as Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, 3G and LTE. You'll also get Samsung e-Meeting with collaboration functions for sharing content during a meeting without the need to access a central server or network.

The 12.2-inch is a relatively new form factor for the tablet segment. However, considering that Apple is reportedly planning to work on a 12.2.-inch tablet dubbed iPad "Pro", we wouldn't be surprised if these mammoth-sized tablets set a new trend. Whether they will replace notebooks is quite debatable, though.
