Maxx Mobile launches 26 phones priced between Rs 1100 and Rs 7777 - Firstpost

Update: Maxx Mobiles has made some corrections in their press release. The price range for the phones is from Rs 1,100 to Rs 7,777 and not Rs 5,000 as mentioned earlier.

Maxx Mobile–known for its entry-level phones–has launched a slew of handsets in the Indian market. Celebrating India's Republic Day that falls on January 26, the company has launched 26 new handset models. The range is priced between Rs 1,100 and Rs 5000 Rs 7,777, which automatically means the smartphones in the line-up will be entry-level phones.

The new launches include 19 feature phones and seven Android phones, says the company, but specific details about these phones are missing. It actually looks like Maxx just wanted to cash in on the Republic Day connection with this launch. The company says that it released a variety of phones instead of just one or two models to help increase mobile penetration in India, but there's nothing particularly attractive about these phones, except for the price.

The seven Android phones viz, AX44, AX 45, AX5i, MSD7 Smarty II, AX06, AX409 and AX04, come equipped with either Android Gingerbread or Jelly Bean OS and 256MB to 512MB of RAM. The specs sheet of these phones include 2MP primary camera, LED flash light and up to 1600 mAh batteries. There's nothing mentioned in the official release about the processors we can expect in these phones, nor about what kind of displays they will feature. But given the price, we aren't expecting high-end internals.

The other nineteen feature phones come with dual SIM capabilities, along with long lasting battery life of up to 1500 mHz, security features such as anti-theft and privacy protection and up to 8GB expandable memory. The feature phone segment models include, MX180, MX422, MX187, MX12, MX444, MX105, MX125, MX553, MX472, MX168, MX467, MX445, MX11, MX103, MX254, MX255, MX433, MX442 and MT352.

Ajjay Agarwal, CMD & Founder, Maxx Mobile, said the company has now launched over 100 phones in the past year. "We had launched 15 models on 15 Aug 2013 and now are launching 26 models on 26 Jan offering the consumer freedom to choose his handset. With this our total new handsets launched during FY 2013-2014 till date is 105, of which 75 are feature phones,28 are Android phones and two are tablets. Being a homegrown company, we understand the pulse of Indian consumers and make phones that suit the needs and budget of every handset user. By offering the largest variety of handsets at varied price points, we want to connect every Indian to the mobile ecosystem, thus contribute to 'mobile inclusion'."
