Maruti Suzuki Stingray launched in India at Rs 4.09 lakh - Daily News & Analysis

We had reported earlier in the year about Maruti Suzuki's intention of introducing the sportier version of its popular flagship, the Wagon R called Wagon R Stingray in the Indian market. At that point however, the report seemed speculative. But soon with the string of spy shots and leaked images, which were circulated on the Internet, it became clear that the Wagon R Stingray will infact, make its way into the Indian showrooms soon. And that day has dawned. Maruti Suzuki India Ltd has officially launched the all-new Stingray in the Indian market at a starting price of Rs 4.09 lakh (ex-showroom, New Delhi). It should be noted that for the Indian market, Maruti Suzuki has dropped the Wagon R moniker from the name of the new model and are simply calling it the Maruti Suzuki Stingray, unlike the international markets where the model is tagged as Suzuki Wagon R Stingray.   The model is being offered in a total of 3 variants - LXi, VXi and VXi with an Option Pack - and all the three variants are being powered the same 1.0-Litre K10 petrol engine, which does duties in the regular Wagon R and is rated at 68PS and 90Nm. The engine comes mated to a 5-Speed manual transmission. Unlike its elder sibling, the Stingray will not be offered in a CNG variant. Design wise, much has changed to bring out the bold and aggressive avatar of the country's widely popular hatchback. Moreover, complementing the fresh stance of the exteriors is the modern styling and features seen inside the cabin.   The Stingray has been been draped with all-black interiors with 'premium' upholstery and has been planted with an in-dash audio system compatible with USB/AUX inputs, which have steering mounted controls too. The top-end models in the spectrum have been equipped with tilt-adjustable steering wheel and electrically adjustable rear view mirrors.
