Google Nexus 7 2 front and back

INTERNET GIANT Google's new Nexus 7 tablet will start shipping in the UK on 9 August, according to online retailer Very.

As spotted by Cultofandroid, over at the Very website buyers can preorder the 4G Nexus 7 tablet for £299, and the retailer is promising to ship the device within three working days. We have contacted Very to confirm this but have not yet received a response.

This comes despite Ebuyer claiming that the device will start shipping on 28 August, while Currys and PC World is sticking by its 13 September release date. Google has yet to start taking preorders at the Google Play store, with the firm still showing a "coming soon" webpage, and the 4G LTE model has yet to go on sale in the US.

Even if the release date is wrong, the new Nexus 7 is arguably worth waiting for with the tablet featuring a high-end 7in 1920x1200 HD display, a quad-core 1.5GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon processor and Google's Android 4.3 Jelly Bean, making it the first device to ship with the latest version of the mobile operating system.

Priced at £199 and £239 for the non-4G 16GB and 32GB models, the device also features 5MP and 1.2MP cameras, a 3,950mAh battery, 2GB of RAM, virtual surround sound and a skinny 8.7mm profile.

If you fancy taking the risk, the new Google 4G Nexus 7 can be preordered for £299 at the Very website now.
