Ford India dealers temporarily stop taking EcoSport bookings - Indian Cars Bikes

The demand for the Ford EcoSport is huge. Well, why won't it be with Ford's fantastic pricing for the compact crossover? Ford India dealers across the country are not able to meet the huge demand for the EcoSport as the car maker has a limited capacity at its new assembly line dedicated to the manufacture of the latest crossover. This has resulted in waiting periods for the EcoSport stretching to many months, and in the times of instant gratification, car buyers might not be willing to wait for too long for their EcoSports.

To manage its bookings and avoid too many disappointed customers, many Ford dealers have stopped taking bookings of select variants of the EcoSport. Bookings for the base, mid and top end versions of the diesel powered EcoSport variants have been stopped temporarily at many Ford India dealerships on a case to case basis. Also, some dealers have stopped accepting bookings for the the Titanium Option variant of the EcoSport with the EcoBoost turbo petrol engine. Bookings of the 1.5 liter petrol engined model don't seem to be affected by the high demand.

The EcoSport sold in India is available with 3 engines: a 1.5 liter petrol engine, a 1 liter turbo petrol motor and a 1.5 liter turbo diesel motor. All three engines get a 5 speed manual gearbox as standard while the 1.5 liter petrol engine can be ordered with a 6 speed dual clutch automatic gearbox. All variants of the EcoSport come only in front wheel drive layout. Interestingly, Ford also exports the EcoSport to countries around the world. In fact, Ford has been able to price the EcoSport so well mainly due to the export strategy.

So, we aren't sure whether Ford India is diverting production abroad given the steep appreciation of the US Dollar. We get this thought as Ford India's MD Joginder Singh, went on record to say that the automaker would be able to meet any demand for the EcoSport.
