Earlier this year, we learnt how Facebook has set sight on mobile and it plans to roll out several standalone apps. While the popular social network already has apps in place for leading mobile platforms like Android and iOS, it has also set the ball rolling for Windows Phone. According to Gizbot, Windows Phone users accessing the Facebook app will be asked to update to Facebook Beta 5.2.3.1.
However, the report suggests users may still face some bugs. The Facebook beta app is compatible with all devices running Windows Phone 7.5 and above.
The beta version of can be downloaded from the Windows Phone store.
The update doesn't bring along many changes but one can expect several bug fixes. It is a step towards bringing the Facebook app for Windows Phone at par with Android and iOS. Apart from the bug fixes, one can also expect support for custom notification sounds. Though users can't select their favourite tunes, the social network has included its own new sound.
On the mobile front, Facebook is also believed to be testing an app version of its smart search feature for smartphones and tablets. What Facebook brings along as far as mobiles go this year remains to be seen, but if the hints are anything to go by, the social networking service will finally become a true mobile company this year.
