Microsoft Tries Saving Internet Explorer With New Advert - Indiatimes.com

Let's admit it. Internet Explorer is dying. The poor browser which once brought the internet world to users and was the only gateway to the amazing online world now remains the butt of millions of memes and online jokes. There are comparisons made with  Google Chrome and Mozilla on a regular basis. With a fast receding user-base, the days of Internet Explorer seem to be clearly numbered.

However, Microsoft does not think so. The company is trying its best to keep the humble browser up and running and is heavily advertising the same. While the advert 'Child of the 90s' managed to spark an interest and capture viewer's attention, it also went hugely viral and added to IE's slow numbers. We wonder if this new advert will prove to be just as lucky and beneficial.

For the new advertisement, Microsoft has taken the anime heroine Inori Aizawa and she is now the official mascot of the browser. The new IE update, IE11 on Windows 8 platform, Inori will be the new mascot for Asian markets.

Microsoft created the confusing, bizarre advert for their new mascot. Oh and she's not just another mascot. Inori has a complete Facebook page for her. Her about section is a little awkward though. There's a reference to Microsoft and IE but what's with the Ugly Duckling story? Microsoft calling IE and Ugly Duckling all set to soon blossom into a swan?!

Here's what the Facebook page states:

My name is Inori and I'm an anime personification for Internet Explorer! Shall we explore the web?

When I was younger, I used to be a clumsy, slow and awkward girl.

However, just like the story of ugly duckling, people told me that I have really matured and changed over the years. I feel confident in my abilities now, and I'm eager to show you what I can do.

Why don't you get to know me a little better?

Oh well.

We wonder if Inori will really help Microsoft spread the IE word. For now, I'm Googling Inori Aizawa on my Chrome.
