Ericsson facing patent investigation in India - Telegraph.co.uk

The case, to be investigated by India's Competition Commission (CCI), is in regard to a dispute over charges levied on Indian group Micromax for the use of Ericsson's patents.

Micromax has argued the royalties for Ericsson patents on mobile phones should be based on the value of the technology, not the sale price of the method.

Using the second method means royalties paid for smartphones are much higher than standard phones.

In a statement Ericsson said "the CCI has now decided to refer the case to the director general for an in-depth investigation", adding it will fully co-operate with the CCI.

Ericsson also said it has tried several times to sign a license agreement with Micromax on fair, reasonable and non-discriminatory terms.
