Reliance Industries' speeding Aston Martin Rapide hits 2 cars, driver escapes in ... - Financial Express

SummaryDriver of Reliance Industries' Aston Martin Rapide car allegedly received help from other cars in 'convoy'.

A day after after an Aston Martin Rapide of Reliance Industries (RIL) rammed into two vehicles on Pedder Road, the driver of the vehicle is yet to be arrested, police said. The driver, however, has been identified, they added. The vehicle is registered with the RTO under the name Reliance Ports Private Limited, police said.

The driver of the luxury car rammed into an Audi, which was being driven by Forum Ruparel, a businesswoman, on Sunday afternoon. The force of the collision caused Ruparels car to jump the divider and hit a bus, which was parked there. The Aston Martin then hit a Hyundai Elantra in which one Vikram Mishra was travelling.

Mishra claimed that he saw the driver of the Aston Martin flee the spot. There were two SUVs behind the Aston Martin. After the accident, the driver got into one of the SUVs and fled, he said.

News of the accident reached police personnel who were conducting a nakabandi at Ratan Tata Institute. The car had passed us. We saw a vehicle take a left turn from Babulnath junction. Then there was a roar of a speeding car. Before we could look in that direction, it was gone. At 3 am, we received a call about the accident, said an officer from Gamdevi police station.

Police dismissed claims that the accused received help in fleeing the spot. Representatives from Reliance Industries have identified the driver. We went to his place but did not find him there. We have to verify everything that the eye-witnesses have said. We are yet to arrest him. The company has also initiated a probe. We will proceed once it is complete, said Rajaram Prabhu, senior inspector, Gamdevi police station.

It is also not known yet where exactly the accused was heading. Reliance Industries representatives have told us that the accused was driving the car to the company office. We do not have clear CCTV footage of the incident, said an officer from Gamdevi police station.
