WHAT is the one app that most people around the world use on their smartphone? It's just something for them to get from A to B. GlobalWebIndex has published the top 10 apps used by the 969.49 million people in the world with a smartphone, and put Google Maps, used by 54 per cent, in number one position. Apple Maps, which had widely publicised problems in its early days, does not make the top 10, although Nokia's Ovi Maps comes in at number 11. If people are not navigating on their phones, the next most popular thing to do is to connect with people. The GlobalWebIndex, which looks at the apps people with smartphones around the world have used in the past month, says the Facebook app is used by 44 per cent, ahead of YouTube which takes out number three position and is used by more than a third of smartphone users. The top 10 is dominated by communication and social media apps. Numbers four to 10 are: Google+, Weixin's WeChat (a Chinese chat app), Twitter, Skype, Facebook Messenger, WhatsApp and Instagram. Media app Shazam, location sharing app Foursquare and photography sharing app Flickr are all in the top 20 of the GlobalWebIndex. via Technology - Google News http://news.google.com/news/url?sa=t&fd=R&usg=AFQjCNECqBuP2sJEbPP5__Qxj0ExTHeUoA&url=http://www.news.com.au/technology/smartphones/global-study-finds-the-top-10-app-with-the-world8217s-smartphone-users/story-fn6vihic-1226691930781 | |||
