The Xbox One is official, and is scheduled to hit store shelves in time for the 2013 holiday season. While Microsoft showed off some snazzy entertainment-related functions for the device â€" from a "snap" function that allows for Xbox multi-tasking to fantasy sports updates that pop up during a live game â€" the Xbox is, at its core, a gaming device. So it's only natural that fans were curious about the games coming to Redmond's new console. Microsoft confirmed that Xbox One buyers are definitely going to have to stock up on new games. That's right â€" no backwards compatibility with Xbox 360 games. "We designed Xbox One to play an entirely new generation of games—games that are architected to take full advantage of state-of-the-art processors and the infinite power of the cloud," Microsoft said in an FAQ. "We care very much about the investment you have made in Xbox 360 and will continue to support it with a pipeline of new games and new apps well into the future." At its Tuesday launch event, Microsoft invited Andrew Wilson from Electronic Arts to take the stage, and he confirmed that a number of the company's popular franchises are coming to Xbox One, including FIFA and Madden. Activision's Eric Hirshberg was also on hand to show off Call of Duty: Ghosts (above), expected in November. Let's not forget Microsoft's own efforts. Microsoft Studios will have 15 exclusive games in the first year of Xbox One, eight of which are brand-new franchises, said studio head Phil Spencer. More details about Xbox One games are expected at June's E3 gaming conference. But until then, here are a few of the more high-profile games coming to Microsoft's new console. ![]() via Technology - Google News http://news.google.com/news/url?sa=t&fd=R&usg=AFQjCNEa19qNvvlbVXAo7by0AGjiNJNAkQ&url=http://www.pcmag.com/slideshow/story/311736/the-biggest-games-coming-to-the-xbox-one | |||
