Spice has been quietly filling out its catalogue of devices but it's not been able to get the same kind of attention that Micromax has, despite launching very similar devices. The Spice Pinnacle Pro is a phablet much like the Micromax Canvas line, and at Rs.14,990, it's a cheaper buy than the Micromax Canvas HD, which has similar hardware. The Pinnacle Pro also comes with a 5MP front camera, which is an interesting decision on the company's part, but more on that in a second. Aside from the camera, it checks off all the boxes that mark it as a budget quad core smartphone, complete with the standard designs, 1.2Ghz quad core processor, 1GB RAM, 16GB internal storage and a 2550mAh battery. The Pinnacle Pro is bulky and heavy—196gms—but it doesn't feel like a cheap phone. The body feels tough but a little uncomfortable to hold because of its size. Luckily, it's more than capable of handling just about any apps you have in mind. Gaming is a smooth experience, and so is multitasking; the phone also comes with Android 4.2 already loaded so you get a pretty good experience. The first real complaint about the phone is the display resolution—960X450 is a little low for a screen that big, and it shows. The similarly priced Canvas HD looks a lot better simply because of this one fact. The other issue is in the camera—Spice has the now standard 8MP camera on the back and a 5MP camera on the front. The rear camera is not particularly impressive—indoor images are often grainy and the focus isn't perfect either. The front camera on the other hand is a wide angle camera which makes it a really good choice for video calls—there's some fuzziness to the picture here as well, but it's not something that will be a big problem when using an app like Skype. The weight, and the bulkiness of the Spice Pinnacle Pro count against it, but if you're more concerned about performance, then it's not a bad choice. But if possible, try it out in a store before you buy it to see if it is comfortable to use, because you're going to be carrying it around everywhere, after all. ![]() via Technology - Google News http://news.google.com/news/url?sa=t&fd=R&usg=AFQjCNFJn310ARqn6GW6J0QJjWNziRzYTg&url=http://www.livemint.com/Leisure/5IkgVW6k3QcDULlXwmuZWK/Gadget-Inspector--Phablet-on-a-budget.html | |||
