NEW DELHI: Swedish luxury carmaker Volvo Auto India has signed famed golfer Jeev Milkha Singh as its brand ambassador. Volvo aims to sell over 1200 cars in India in 2013 and is looking at sales traction with this new endorsement. Tomas Ernberg, MD Volvo Auto India said, "The association of Volvo Cars with Jeev Milkha Singh represent perfection and our continual growth. Volvo and Jeev share enduring association since April 2006, when he won the Volvo Master and became the second Indian player to win on the European Tour. As a part of this association Jeev will be driving our flagship Volvo XC90 that will also provide ample boot space for his all his Golf sets, in the safety and luxury of Volvo cars." Jeev has been India's top most professional golfer and was first to break into the 50 top global rankings. The company also sells three more luxury models, the XC60 compact SUV, the S80 sedan and the S60 sports sedan. Volvo had sold 276 units in the first quarter, a growth of 114% over the previous corresponding period and is plans to introduce its S40 sports crossover model in India in the next few months. Volvo had established its presence in India in 2007 and currently sells its cars in New Delhi, Gurgaon, Ahmedabad, Mumbai, Chandigarh, Coimbatore, Hyderabad, Chennai, Bangalore, Kochi and Pune.
