We all have a soft-corner for Nokia phones. Those original candy-bar, brick-strong gadgets which came with nothing more than the ability to make a call, receive an SMS, set a reminder and play Snakes. And who can forget the tiny sepia screens? Such was the popularity of these phones that they have often been called indestructible and even have memes revolving around them!

So it was definitely down the nostalgia lane route for us while writing this piece. While such models were once the talk of the day, even the basic entry-level phones of today put these to shame. However, Nokia marked almost an end of the monochrome display era with the launch of the latest device, the Nokia 105.

Nokia 105 is the Finnish phone-makers most affordable handset and the entry-level phone now comes with a color screen. The phone is also the cheapest entry-level colour phone available in India, Nokia said in a Press Release. The phone is the successor to the Nokia 1280 which has been a hugely popular phone and sold over a 100 million units to date.

T. S. Sridhar, Regional General Manager (South), Nokia India, said, "The very human and fresh design of Nokia 105 makes it distinct in this price range, and utterly modern despite a traditional form factor. Our most affordable device with some of the best category features, is the ideal handset for first time buyers to enjoy the benefits and experiences of mobility."

The Nokia 105 comes with all basic features like FM Radio, clock, reminders, calculator and flashlight. The phone is aimed at first-time buyers and the interface is simple to understand. The phone has an internal memory of 384 kb and can store up to 500 contacts in the phonebook. The phone weighs barely 70 grams and comes with a 800 mAh battery, more than sufficient for a basic, feature phone. The phone also has a basic camera. Nokia 105 is available in 2 colours: Black and Blue.

The phone comes with the tagline 'Good Looking, Long Lasting' and we can see no cause to complain. The phone is priced at Rs 1249/- in India.

  1. The Nokia 105 is set up for whatever the day tosses at you, with its poly-carbonate shell that keeps its shading notwithstanding when scratched.
