Idea telecom has launched yet another low cost Android smartphone – the Idea Whiz, for Rs 7,850. The launch of the dual sim phone comes on the back of the release of several other 3G smartphones over the last one year, including the Idea Zeal, Idea Ivory, Idea Aurus, ID 918 and Idea Blade. The company says it has already sold over 300,000 3G smartphones over the last one year. The specifications of the Whiz include a 4-inch WVGA display, a 1GHz dual-core processor, 512 MB RAM and 4GB internal storage. It also has a 5-megapixel auto-focus rear camera and a VGA front camera. The phone will run on Android 4.0 aka Ice cream sandwich. The phone claims to offer faster internet browsing, email updates, games and smart applications and widgets. In terms of specifications however, companies like Micromax offer much more powerful devices for the same price. However Idea is hoping that it will be able to lure buyers with a host of 3G offerings. The company has said that it will give buyers of the phone free 3G data for first three months. The states where it is available are- AP, Gujarat, HP, Haryana, J&K, Kerela, Maharashtra, MP, UP (W) & UP (E) circles.
