2013 Range Rover Sport revealed - Telegraph.co.uk

At 485cm long, the new Range Rover Sport is 6cm longer than its predecessor; the wheelbase is 18cm longer and the overall width has increased by 6cm. The styling blends elements of the old car with cues from the latest Range Rover and Evoque.

Air suspension and Land Rover's Terrain Response system will be standard; a new electrically-assisted power steering is designed to give a lighter, more direct feel.

A choice of two four-wheel-drive systems will be offered. One has a low-range option, 50/50 default torque split and locking capability geared towards demanding off-road driving.

The other is biased towards on-road driving: it's 18kg lighter, has a default 42/58 per cent front-rear torque split and a differential that automatically distributes torque to the axle with most grip.

From launch, the Sport will be available with a 503bhp 5.0-litre V8 petrol engine and a 288bhp 3.0-litre V6 diesel engine. A 254bhp version of the diesel engine and a 334bhp 4.4-litre V8 will be added in early 2014.

A diesel hybrid version with CO2 emissions of 169g/km will also join the range in 2014, and Land Rover has hinted that a four-cylinder diesel engine is a "future possibility".

The cabin is wider and has more legroom than its predecessor's, and the seating capacity can be increased from five to seven if the optional rear seats are ordered. These are electrically powered and fold to leave a flat load floor

The new Range Rover Sport will go on sale in summer 2013. Prices are yet to be announced, but the entry-level car is likely to cost about £52,000.
