NRI booked for allowing minor to drive Ferrari - The New Indian Express

The Peramangalam police have booked a man for uploading a video of his nine-year-old son driving a Ferrari F 430 on a video sharing website, which created uproar in cyber space.

According to Peramangalam Circle Inspector Biju Kumar, the police have registered a case against Mohammed Nisham, the father of the minor, under various Sections in the Juvenile Justice (JJ) and Motor Vehicles (MV) Acts for allowing his minor son to drive and cause inconvenience to others.

"We have collected statements from the boy and other family members. But, the police couldn't take custody of Mohammed Nisham as he is an NRI. After completing routine formalities, we would refer the case to the court for further proceedings," he said.

According to the chargesheet, Nisham, the owner the Ferrari, had shot the video of his son driving the vehicle and his wife uploaded it online. Nisham was booked under section 23 of the JJ Act for encouraging underage driving and for allowing a child to drive a vehicle without license, the police said.

The boy's mother told a news channel that the he drove the vehicle on his ninth birthday, and that he had been insisting on driving the Ferrari for months.

She allowed him to drive the car on a private road near Thrissur. She said that she was proud of him.
