Samsung has started rolling out the latest version of the Android operating system to users of the original Galaxy Note. The news was confirmed by Samsung via its official blog, which said, "The Galaxy Note is Samsung's first Phablet device and has a very large user base that's why Samsung keeps on updating this device with all the new Android versions as they want to provide the Galaxy Note users with their best support experience."

This means that the Galaxy Note will now be on par with its improved successor, the Note II.

However don't expect the update right away, because Samsung says that the rollout is happening in phases, and will depend on where users are based, as well as what carrier they are using.

According to Samsung, the new update has "completely ditched the old UI and has given the new Nature UX Interface, which is the same as the one being used in the Galaxy S III Mini and the Galaxy S III."

Some of the Enhancements in the new Jelly Bean Update include Multi-View (Multi Windows Multitasking, like in the Note II), a customisable notification Panel, smart rotation, as well as new Widgets From the Galaxy S III.

Jellybean for Android was introduced in November 2012. The OS was an incremental update with the primary aim of improving the functionality and performance of the user interface. The performance improvement involved "Project Butter", which uses touch anticipation, triple buffering, extended vsync timing and a fixed frame rate of 60 fps to create a fluid and "buttery-smooth" UI.
