New Delhi: After its fairly long and successful run in the Indian auto market, Hyundai Motors India Ltd (HMIL) is reportedly planning to launch another offering in the small car segment. As per reports now doing the rounds, the car has been codenamed 'BA', and is expected to be positioned between the i10 and i20. It will directly take on competitors such as Maruti Ritz and the hugely popular Swift. (Photos: Top business news and events at a glance) The car will be powered by a 1.1-litre diesel engine and 1.2-litre petrol engine. The rumours come close on the heels of speculation about a revamped i10 hitting Indian roads before the end of this year. (Read: 'All-new Hyundai i10 to hit Indian roads by end of 2013') Hyundai 'BA' is expected to be launched ahead of the festive season. With 'BA', Hyundai will have expanded its current line-up of small cars that so far includes Eon, Santro, i10 and i20 to five. The continued success of the Korean company in the hatchback category is crucial considering the fact that 70% of all passenger car sales come from this segment. Also, Hyundai has yet to make its presence felt in the other fast expanding MPV/SUV segment, with its sole offering Santa Fe failing to see the kind of sales rivals such as Renault Duster have registered.
