Popular Japanese carmaker Mazda has officially forayed into the MPV segment of Indonesia with the made-in-India VX-1. Based on the Suzuki Eritga which is exported from India as a CKD unit and is then assembled at Suzuki's facility in Jakarta, the Mazda VX-1 is now on sale in the Indonesian market with on-road prices ranging between 178.8 million Indonesia Rupiah (around Rs 10.05 lakh) and 191 million Indonesian Rupiah (around Rs 10.75 lakh).

The Mazda VX-1 comes in two variants and six color options for the Indonesian market. As for the visual changes, Mazda has given the VX-1 a few design elements of its own to differentiate it from the MPV from Suzuki. While the front-end features a redesigned grille, a more aggressive looking bumper with grey surrounds for the fog lamps, the side profile and the rear-end remain nearly unchanged except for the chrome door handles, LED stop light on the bumper and the Mazda badging.

Given the huge demand for the Suzuki Ertiga in Indonesia and limited import volumes, Mazda is looking to sell around 3,600 units of the VX-1 by the end of the year, which accounts to sales of just 350 units per month.
