LUCKNOW: Gmail users across India faced a tough time on Monday afternoon after Google's free email service suffered a partial outage. In Lucknow too, several users, including professionals, students and teachers, felt the impact. "We are so much dependent on Gmail that even a minute without it is difficult to manage. The services which were not available for an hour delayed work,'' said Neeta Shukla, a professional. "Gmail is the source of officially communicating between the teachers and administration. All work was stuck for an hour,'' said a Lucknow University teacher. The outage occurred at around 1.30pm in India, Middle East and Southeast Asia. Many users encountered the 502 erro r, which was later confirmed as a service disruption by the internet search giant via its Apps Status Dashboard. At 1.50pm, Google posted a message on the dashboard stating, "The issue is affecting less than 0.75% of users. The affected users are located in India, Middle East and South East Asia. The errors may appear sporadic and could go away when the page is refreshed." Google resolved the issue at around 2.25pm and posted an apology on the dashboard. The company said, "The problem with Gmail should be resolved. We apologise for the inconvenience and thank you for your patience and continued support. Please rest assured that system reliability is a top priority at Google, and we are making continuous improvements to make our systems better." via Technology - Google News http://news.google.com/news/url?sa=t&fd=R&usg=AFQjCNGZI1kWTBK_J1renVQKR43IcvYc8g&url=http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/city/lucknow/Snag-stalls-Gmail-service-in-Lucknow/articleshow/20039448.cms | |||
