The Indonesian subsidiary of Japanese auto giant Mazda recently launched the Mazda VX-1 in Indonesia. The Mazda VX-1 is basically a rebadged Maruti Suzuki Ertiga and goes on sale in two trim levels. The VX-1 that goes on sale in Indonesia is produced in India and is exported to Suzuki's Indonesian factory in West Java. It may be noted that MPV are in high demand in Indonesia and the Ertiga is among the five higheset selling cars in Indonesia. Suzuki sells almost 20,000 units of Ertiga every month. Powering the newly launched Mazda VX-1 is the same 1.4-litre K Series Suzuki petrol engine that powers the petrol variant of the Ertiga. The engine has a max power of 95 PS@6,000 rpm and has a peak torque figure of 130 Nm@4,000 rpm. Visually, the Ertiga and the VX-1 are almost identical, with only the VX-1's grille being different. Other minor differences include addition of chrome door handles, side skirt and door moulding.
