If you have been watching the latest season of the Indian Premier League then you must have come across Micromax's latest commercial or rather a teaser of its forthcoming smartphone which it calls the Canvas Doodle 3.
The ad features a doodled pig showing off some cool dance moves and that's all. We presume this means you can make cool doodles on the new phone, but there's nothing else of note. The teaser does not even show a glimpse of the smartphone just as we saw in previous teasers of its Canvas series smartphones.
Since it is just a teaser it would be difficult to say what features the smartphone will have. Considering that Micromax had made upgrades in the Doodle 2 after the original Doodle phone, it would not be wrong to expect the same from the upcoming model.
Canvas Doodle 1 had a 5.3 inch display with 480×570 resolution. Its successor Canvas Doodle 2 had a bigger display (5.7 inch) and higher resolution. So we can expect Doodle 3 to have a display of at least same size and resolution or higher. Both the previous Doodle smartphones were powered by a 1.2GHz quad-core processor. So we would expect quad-core processor with slightly higher clock rate, perhaps it will have the MT6582 with a 1.3GHz quad-core processor.
Doodle 1 and 2 came with Android (Jelly Bean) operating system out of the box; Doodle 1 had v4.1 while Doodle 2 had v4.2 and of late Micromax has been only launching phones with Jelly Bean, which could be repeated with the Doodle 3.
Canvas Doodle 2 had better rear and front cameras (12MP and 5MP respectively) than what we saw in Doodle 1 which had 8MP and 2MP as its front and rear cameras. Micromax should at least retain the same camera configuration as Doodle 2 to make it enticing. Anything less would could turn away potential buyers.
Last but not least is the price tag. The previous Canvas Doodle smartphones had price tags in excess of Rs 15,000 at launch. So it won't be surprising if the price of Micromax Canvas Doodle 3 is also in the same range.
As of now, this is all speculation. It is possible that Micromax could come up with entirely different set of features which could surprise or even disappoint. Since the teasers are out, we can expect the phone to be launched soon.
