It's been a good run for an operating system that's proven popular for more than a decade. Starting April 8th, Microsoft will end support for Windows XP.
What this means, among other things, is that Microsoft will no longer provide security and anti-virus updates for Windows XP.
Bill Sikkens, with "We Are Technology," says about one-third of computers used for business are currently running XP. He suggests they upgrade to Windows Seven or above.
The director of engineering for Alpha Broadcasting and L&L Broadcasting, Mike Everhart, says the companies have been on a three-year plan to get all of their machines upgraded to Windows Seven or higher.
According to Everhart, every computer involved in critical applications or connected to the internet is not going to be subject to any of the security problems that may come in the future for Windows XP.
Everhart says, as an operating system, Windows XP is the "best one yet."
