Mumbai, March 28: Reliance Communications Ltd (R-Com) today announced attractive discounts on international data and call charges when it launched two international roaming packs for post-paid GSM customers.
These packs offer a discount of up to 96 per cent on data and up to 92 per cent on call charges.
The roaming pack for the UK is available for a rental of Rs 849 per month under which users will be charged Rs 25 per MB for data and Rs 25 for call back to India. The base tariff is Rs 563 per MB and Rs 140 per call.
While the base tariff for a local outgoing call is Rs 70 per minute, the discount tariff now stands at Rs 25 per unit, thus offering a discount of 64 per cent. In the case of calls to India, the base tariff stands at Rs 140 per minute and the discount tariff is pegged at Rs 25 per minute, yielding a discount of 82 per cent.
In a statement, RCOM added that the rental pack for five continents -- North America, Asia, Europe, Australia and Africa -- which includes 42 destinations, is available for Rs 999 per month and offers discount of 92 per cent on voice calls. The pack, however, offers no discounts on data charges.
"This is an extremely attractive proposition designed to offer significant savings to all GSM post-paid customers on both data usage and voice calls during their stay," R-Com president and CEO (consumer business) Gurdeep Singh said.
The company also revised its roaming pack for America. It now offers calls and data at Rs 10 per minute. In the case of outgoing calls to India, the pack tariff is Rs 10 per minute, which is at a discount of 93 per cent to the base tariff of Rs 140 per minute.
The America pack, which has a rental of Rs 849 per month, offers all calls, SMS and data per MB for Rs 10.
