Microsoft's voice assistant Cortana leaked: Siri-like experience on Windows Phone - Firstpost

As smartphones evolve, voice assistants are the next big step for mobile software. After Google Now and Apple's Siri, Microsoft has also been working on its own version of the voice assistant for Windows Phone called Cortana which will in most likelihood make an appearance in Windows Phone 8.1

Now The Verge has put out screenshots of what Cortana will look like. The assistant looks similar to Siri, as there is a black background with a voice icon. The report adds that Cortana will replaced the built-in Bing Search functionality on Windows Phone. It goes on to say that, Cortana will take the form of a circular animated icon instead of a female character and it will have a personality when it responds, which is quite similar to what Apple's Siri already does.

Users will also have option of setting nicknames by which Cortana can refer to them and it will be able to save information and data in a Notebook system. The other functionalities will be similar to what Google Now offers such as the ability to generate notifications, track flights, etc, through integration with other services such as FourSquare. It was earlier reported that Cortana will come with Windows Phone 8.1 but is unlikely to have third-party compatibility right from the beginning.
