Washington: Special edition smartphones designed by Hollywood star Ashton Kutcher are reportedly set to hit stores this year.

Kutcher, a noted tech enthusiast, had been brought on board as a product engineer back in October and the first devices influenced by him would be available in 2014.

Lenovo executive David Roman said that Kutcher's role in shaping the company's hardware was very real and the company's partnership with the actor represented far more than a publicity grab, The Verge reports.

Roman further said that Kutcher not only sees himself as an engineer, but he is an engineer, adding that his primary focus has revolved around user experience on the upcoming phones .
