Android Wear; Sony's Project Morpheus; 8GB iPhone 5c, No More iPad 2 - PC Magazine

From Google's Android Wear to Sony's Project Morpheus, here's what you missed in tech on Tuesday.

Google Unveils Android Wear Smartwatch OS

Topping tech headlines on Tuesday was the introduction of Google's Android Wear, which extends the popular Android OS into wristwatches.

Google is working with consumer electronics manufacturers, chip makers, and fashion brands to build a lineup of varying devices, including the Moto 360 from Motorola. LG is also prepping an Android Wear-compatible smartwatch, dubbed the LG G Watch. Both are expected to launch in the U.S. later this year. In other device news, Sony unveiled Project Morpheus, a prototype virtual reality headset that works with the company's PlayStation 4 console to present gamers with a fully immersive gaming experience. Revealed at the Game Developer Conference in San Francisco, the prototype is initially being packaged as a development kit for game developers interested in creating for a virtual reality interface.

Meanwhile, Apple launched a smaller-capacity iPhone 5c internationally, offering the 8GB model in the U.K., France, China, Germany, and Australia. Like its 16GB and 32GB siblings, the new handset comes in five colors, sports a 4-inch Retina display, A6 chip, 8-megapixel camera, 1080p HD video recording, and the latest version of iOS 7. Cupertino also announced that it will drop the iPad 2 from its tablet lineup and offer the Retina display iPad 4 starting at $399.
