HP brings Slate 6 and Slate 7 VoiceTab to India, starting at Rs 16990 - Firstpost

At long last, HP has launched the Slate 6 and Slate 7 VoiceTab in India. The 6-inch VoiceTab will be priced at Rs 22,990 and the 7-inch Slate 7 will be priced at Rs 16,990. The phablets are set to be available in stores starting this week for the 6-inch phablet and next week for the 7-incher.

HP had announced its intentions to re-enter the smartphone market in India last month and had spoken about the phablets at length. Both, the Slate 6 and Slate 7 VoiceTabs feature voice calling and can be used as a primary smartphone, notwithstanding their enormous sizes.

The phablets are both powered by a 1.2GHz Quad-core Marvell PX processors and feature 1GB DDR2 RAM. Both the devices will feature dual-SIM capabilities and come with an internal storage capacity of 16GB. HP has also promised 25GB worth of cloud storage space for both, the Slate 6 and Slate 7. You an also expand the memory on your device using a microSD card.

As far as the imaging capabilities of both phablets go, the Slate 7 and Slate 7 feature 5MP auto-focus rear cameras as well as 2MP front facing ones. Both phones also come with multipoint capacitive touch and HD IPS displays. The Slate 6 is set to be available in black while the Slate 7 will come in a white shade.

The phones will both run a rather dated Android version 4.2.2 Jelly Bean out of the box and it isn't clear whether they will see an update to a more recent Android version.
