The Nikkei reports Sony Corporation (ADR)(NYSE:SNE) is talking with Apple about doubling its supply of image sensors to the tech giant, in support of a future iPhone. The paper adds Sony has laid the groundwork to handle the extra demand, and that its acquisition of a Renesas image sensor fab was done with Apple in mind.While Sony is rallying, OmniVision (OVTI -5.6%) shares aren't responding well to the report. Apple has relied on both Sony and OmniVision for iPhone image sensors in recent years.Techno Systems Research estimates Sony had a 32.1% share of the CMOS image sensor market in 2012. In addition to Apple, Sony supplies Samsung and Huawei.

Chevron Corporation(NYSE:CVX) says one worker was hospitalized and another is missing after a fire erupted earlier this morning at a natural gas well it owns in Pennsylvania.CVX drilled the well in March 2012, but it hadn't produced any gas through the first half of last year.CVX owns the third-largest acreage in the Marcellus shale, where production of natural gas was expected to exceed 13B cf/day in December, up from less than 2B cf in 2010.
NanoViricides Inc(NYSEMKT:NNVC) has responded to a very bearish column from SA contributor Pump Terminator by asserting the author's claims are "baseless," and declaring itself to be "outraged."The company claims a whistleblower complaint filed against it (one of several issues raised by the author) has been "dismissed twice and … amended a total of seven times." It also makes note of past denials of the allegations in the complaints, and defends its executive compensation policies.NanoViricides promises a more detailed response will be provided "in the near future."Shares have resumed trading and recouped a portion of the day's losses, but remain down sharply.
