Ofcourse you need a 4G enabled smartphone or tablet which is compatible to Airtel's TD-LTE services. As per reports, currently iPhone 5S and 5C can avail the services but Xolo LT900 and recently launched Gionee Elife E7 too support the 2300 MHz frequency band on which 4G is being offered by Airtel.
"Existing 3G plans will apply to users who will be migrated to 4G for no extra cost. However, they will have to get a SIM card replacement. Voice networks will continue to run on 2G and 3G networks," said Srini Gopalan, Bharti Airtel's director for consumer business.
Though media reports said that Airtel is offering 4G mobile services at 3G prices but not much information about 4G plans for mobile phones is available right now. According to a report, Airtel is now offering For Rs 1,500, a postpaid customer can upload/download 10 GB of data in 30 days.
With 4G, you can ideally achieve 100 Mbps speed. Airtel on its web page also says that with 4G, you could have 5 time faster internet connectivity than 3G. Gopalan also said in a statement that with 4G network users will be able to download 10 standard movies within 30 minutes but according to The Economic Times, Airtel 4G in Bangaluru provide 7.2 Mbps download speed.
