Intel Unveils Android Based Education Tablet With 5 MP Camera and More - Gizbot

Just yesterday, Metis Learning launched their latest Android based tablet Eddy for kids in the Indian market. Now it seems even Intel is trying out the same game-play as the chip maker has also introduced the similar Android-based Education Tablet for students.

The reference design for the new tablet was revealed by Intel at the Bett 2014 education technology show in London today. Moreover, it has also introduced classmate PC running on Windows 8.1 and Intel Celeron processor N2806 at the Bett 2014 in London, which is also aimed at education.

The Intel's latest Education tablet, as the name suggests comes with an education materials for students, and tools for teachers to manage e-learning classrooms. It is a part of Intel Education Solutions which has Intel Education Software that includes tools for 21st century learning, communication, collaboration, problem solving, critical thinking and literary skills.

Here is a quick specs rundown of the Intel Education Tablet (ECS-TR10CD1)

The tablet comes with a 10.1-inch IPS LCD 5-point multi-touch display offering a resolution of 1280 x 800 pixels.

The educational slate comes powered by Intel's own 1.2 GHz dual-core Atom Z2520 processor coupled with 1GB LPDDR2 RAM and it runs on Android 4.2 (Jelly Bean) operating system.

Users can also find a 5MP rear camera and a 1.26MP front-facing camera which is competitive enough for a normal usage.

It comes in three different variants depending on the storage capacity. Thus you get to choose from 8/16/32GB variants. But it also comes with a micro SD card slot for memory expansion.

The Intel's Education Tablet comes with a wide range of connectivity options including 3G (Optional ), WiFi a/b/g/n, Bluetooth 2.1 + EDR, NFC (Optional), Micro HDMI, GPS (Optional).

The company has not disclosed the battery capacity of the tablet but says that it will offer up to 12 hours of life to the device.

It is also worth mentioning that the Education tablet comes with a 70cm drop-resistance build and is IPS2 certified which means it is dust and water-resistance as well.

There is still more about the tablet. The tablet comes comes bundled with a couple of useful accessories like the Active stylus, Snap-on magnification lens and a Plug-in thermal (temperature sensor) probe for experiments that plugs into the tablet's audio jack.

The company has not disclosed the pricing and availability of the tablet as of now.

It should be noted that this is not the only tablet that is aimed at students and kids sections. Manufacturers like Micromax, HCL and Binatone and even the aforementioned Metis Learning has already released their tablets in the market already. Since there is a healthy competition in the regular tablet market these days, most of the companies are trying to procure their status in the learning or educational tablets.
