Facebook Acquires Android App Analyst Little Eye Labs - PC Magazine

Facebook Acquires Little Eye Labs

Facebook has acquired performance analysis firm Little Eye Labs in an apparent attempt to boost its mobile operations.

The Indian company—a first for Facebook—confirmed the news on its website, adding that the entire Little Eye team will move to Menlo Park to join forces with the popular social network.

"From there, we'll be able to leverage Facebook's world-class infrastructure and help improve performance of their already awesome apps," the team wrote in an announcement. "For us, this is an opportunity to make an impact on the more than 1 billion people who use Facebook."

Founded about a year ago by "a bunch of program analysis geeks," Little Eye Labs released its official Android app in April. In the months since, according to the company, Android developers have been using Little Eye to measure, analyze, and optimize their apps' performance.

Its new home at Facebook, however, will mean a change for all of those customers, who can expect to receive more details about Little Eye's plan to offer a free version of its software through June 30.

"This has been a fun and exciting journey," the team said. "We're eager to be working alongside the incredible team at Facebook, and together, we'll continue on our mission of building awesome analysis tools to aide in the development of brilliant apps."

Little Eye Labs currently deals only in Google's Android platform, where it will continue to work to better Facebook's mobile presence.

The social network giant did not immediately respond to a request for comment, but engineering manager Subbu Subramanian confirmed the news on his Facebook page.

"At Facebook, we remain focused on producing useful and engaging mobile apps," he said. "The Little Eye Labs technology will help us to continue improving our Android codebase to make more efficient, higher-performing apps."

Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Facebook has been expanding internationally recently, acquiring Israeli startup Onavo in October, with the intention of increasing Internet access globally for more users.
