Mumbai: The complainant in the Aston Martin case on Thursday said that she never claimed to have a seen a young man behind the wheels of the car. The woman, who was driving the Audi that was hit by Aston Martin also added that her car was replaced by her insurance company not by Reliance.
"I have identified the driver. I never saw a young man driving the car, had I done so, I would have mentioned in my FIR," said complainant Foram Ruparel contradicting her earlier reported statement to the police.

A fortnight after the accident, the complainant had recorded her statement before a magistrate identifying 55-year-old Bansilal Joshi, an employee of Reliance as the man behind the wheels of the Aston Martin.
Rauparel has told CNN-IBN that she will withdraw her case. "I have got a complete replacement of my car through the insurance company. So I am satisfied with what I have got from the insurance company. I have not got any compensation from RIL and nor do I want. I am withdrawing my complaint as they have identified the driver," she said.

However, the Mumbai Police has said that the investigation in the case will continue as fresh twists have raised more questions.
The questions which are being raised now are Why did the complainant change her earlier version, where she claimed the man behind the wheel of the Aston Martin was a young man and not 55-year-old Joshi? Why did it take so long for Mumbai Police to record the statement of the complainants?
With little corroborative evidence, will the police arrest Bansilal Joshi after the compliant has identified him as the driver.
The speeding Aston Martin had crashed into an Audi and a Hyundai Elantra injuring three people on December 9. Thereafter, the driver abandoned the car at Cadbury junction and fled from the spot.
The police have claimed the driver was allegedly speeding at more than 100 kmph. According to a spokesperson of the Reliance Industries, the driver was taking the car to the company office.
