Samsung Galaxy Grand 2 Features Improved HD Display - eWeek

The device runs Google's Android operating system, features a 5.25-inch HD display with a 16:9 ratio and is powered by a quad-core 1.2GHz processor.

Consumer electronics giant Samsung announced the latest member of its smartphone family, the Galaxy Grand 2, an evolution of the Galaxy Grand series that brings upgrades to its predecessor including an improved HD viewing experience, enhanced performance and other features.The device, which runs Google's Android operating system, features a 5.25-inch screen with a 16:9 HD ratio, and offers Multi Window, designed to help users multitask by maximizing the benefits of the device's large screen, enabling users to run one application in two windows at the same time.The Galaxy Grand 2 is powered by a quad-core 1.2GHz processor and 2,600mAh battery, which the company said provides up to 10 hours of playback and 17 hours of call time.On the storage side, the handset packs 1.5GB of RAM as well as 8GB of internal storage, and a microSD slot to expand storage capability by up to 64GB. The Galaxy Grand 2 also boasts two cameras, an 8 megapixel rear-facing camera and a 1.9 megapixel front-facing camera. The smartphone will be offered in white, black and pink and will be available in selective regions, although a company release did not specify what countries would get the handset or when. Samsung has also so far kept quiet on the price of the device. To provide a more intuitive user experience, the Galaxy Grand 2 comes equipped with several smart features, including enhanced camera features such as Best Face, Best Photo and Continuous Shot.Other features include Story Album, which lets users organize pictures by timeline, and create and print albums all from the device; Sound & Shot, which lets users record up to nine seconds of audio with their photos; S Translator, a translation service that provides translations; and S Travel, which provides guides and travel information for the next trip.In addition, Samsung Hub is a content service that provides access to music, videos, games and more, Group Play allows users to listen to music, share documents or play games together and Samsung Link connects users' devices so they can access photos, music, videos and documents from multiple locations. As Samsung continues to update and expand its Galaxy line of mobile devices, it is also reaching out to customers in an effort to introduce them to its latest flagship devices with a series of pop-up spaces, which began in Seoul and are now open in London and New York.In New York, shoppers will be exposed to what the company calls a "seasonal holiday experience" at the Galaxy Studio in the Soho section of Manhattan. For these consumers, Samsung will offer creative shopping solutions utilizing the Galaxy Note 3 and showing off the features that help users be more productive and organized.In London, Samsung is extending the Galaxy Studio experience into the shops of eight retailer partners on Portobello Road, which will each offer special opportunities for shoppers to utilize Galaxy devices to amplify their visit in some way.The partners, ranging from a hair salon to a coffee shop to an antique store, will each integrate the devices into the shopping experience in a unique way.
