SOFTWARE HOUSE Microsoft has released Internet Explorer 11 (IE11) for Windows 7.
The firm said that IE11 is "fast and fluid" on Windows 7, and it is shown off in various nice poses.
There is a lot to be excited about, going by the presented information, and Microsoft has ladled on promotional hype about the experience.
"Explore amazing new websites built in collaboration with Internet Explorer. From the slopes of Mount Everest to the stunning world of Contre Jour, experience the beauty of the web in Internet Explorer," said the firm.
"Make Internet Explorer your default browser. Surf the web with the fast, fluid, perfect-for-touch browser."
The update will bring Windows 7 Internet Explorer users into line with Windows 8.1. Microsoft said that users with automatic updates enabled will be upgraded automatically in the coming weeks. Windows 8.1 was released in mid-October.
Developers should be in for a treat as well. Internet Explorer 11 features and third party work are cooed over in a lengthy blog post penned by group programme managers Rob Mauceri and Sandeep Singhal.
"IE11 puts your Web sites first, delivering the best Web on Windows across a full range of devices and screen sizes that is equally great for touch, mouse, and keyboard," they wrote.
"You can have as many open tabs as you want, and side by side browsing with your favorite sites and Windows Store apps together."
For some obscure reason Microsoft has also decided to personify Internet Explorer as an anime mascot. The wide eyed short skirt wearing software lady has a Facebook page, and maybe some sort of following.
Inori Aizawa is her name, and according to her Facebook page she is the "personification of Internet Explorer".
"When I was younger, I used to be a clumsy, slow and awkward girl," she relates. "However, just like the story of ugly duckling, people told me that I have really matured and changed over the years. I feel confident in my abilities now, and I'm eager to show you what I can do."
