HTC One successor's images, features leaked - Times of India

NEW DELHI: HTC One, the much acclaimed top-end smartphone from the Taiwanese manufacturer's stables, may soon get a successor. The first leaked image of the device, which is expected to succeed the company's current flagship, has hit the internet. The image reveals new features, design improvements and specifications.

According to Chinese website ePrice, the upcoming HTC smartphone is codenamed M8 (the One was called M7 when it was being developed). The leaked images of the device show that it will follow the same design language as its predecessor, but will be thinner and have more rounded edges.

The handset will also get a fingerprint scanner on the back, though it will be smaller than the one used in the One Max phablet and will be placed above the camera.

The website reports that HTC M8 w ill have 5-inch or 5.2-inch display with 2K (2048x1080p) resolution and run on the Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor clocked at 2.2GHz. Though the Android version to be used in the smartphone is not yet known, it is expected to come preloaded with the HTC Sense 6.0 UI. The device is said to have 3GB RAM and will hit the markets in early 2014.

HTC One has been widely praised for its refined design, though this failed to translate into stellar sales. The device has spawned two other smartphones, HTC One Mini and HTC One Max, both featuring the same design. The company is also readying a tablet with the same design language.
