Hours after listing on India Play store, Google's Nexus 5 is out of stock - Firstpost

The Nexus 5 is officially on sale in India on the Google Play store, and there seems to be some confusion over whether the device is in stock or not.  Shortly after the devices went on sale, the Google Play store displayed messages saying that it was 'out of inventory' asking people to check back in later. It is now alternately showing that the device is in stock and out of inventory. What's the deal Google?

The demand for the device is expected to be high, given Google's competitive pricing.

Google had priced the 16GB version of the device at Rs 28,999, which is much cheaper than all the recent flagship launches in India which have all been priced over Rs 40,000. The 32GB version of the phone costs Rs 32,999 and was also showing as out of stock on the Play store for the black version.

For instance LG's G2 is priced closest to the Nexus 5 at Rs 41,500 for a 16 GB version, while a 32 GB version of the smartphone is Rs 44,500. Both versions of the G2 are retailing for under Rs 40,000 online with Flipkart offering the 32 GB version for Rs 40,490 and 16 GB version for 37,999.

Meanwhile Apple is selling the 16 GB iPhone 5c at Rs 41,900 and 32 GB variant at Rs 53,500. iPhone 5s is available at Rs 53,500 (16GB), Rs 63,500 (32 GB) and Rs 71,500 (64 GB).

For now, terms of premium smartphones by top brands, the Nexus 5 is clearly the cheapest smartphone.

But there's no need to be disappointed if you can't pick the phone up on the Google Play store. LG (which manufactured the device in partnership with Google) is selling the 16GB device for Rs 29,999.

Local Delhi retailers have also told Firstpost that they will get the device by this evening.

Online, Infibeam says the device is available for Rs 29,990 while on Junglee (Amazon) there are slight discounts. On Snapdeal however, the device is listed as being sold out, while it is listed as 'not available' on Flipkart.
