Following the launch of its Galaxy Gear smartwatch, Samsung could be looking to further push into the wearable technology market with a Google Glass rival potentially dubbed the "Gear Glass."
The latest rumour comes to us via Twitter tipster Eldar Murtazin, who claims that the Samsung-branded smart specs are lined up for a general release in spring 2014.
One talking point going forward is what platform Samsung might utilise for its Gear Glass project. As the product could land at roughly the same time as Google Glass - which runs a modified version of Android - it may be that Samsung will look to differentiate its offering by utilising its in-house Tizen operating system.
Tizen 3.0 was recently spotted running on the Galaxy S4, and speculation is currently rife that Samsung is plotting to move away from Android.
For its part, Google helped kickstart the recent fetishisation of wearable technology back at I/O 2012, when it unveiled the Explorer Edition of Project Glass.
Google Glass is currently expected to hit general availability in early-2014 and retail in the region of £1,000. Samsung's Galaxy Gear smartwatch was unveiled at IFA 2013 in Berlin and costs in the region of £300.
