The Canvas 4 was seen as clear disappointment by many, and now the Indian tech vendor has launched another high-end device. The Micromax Canvas Turbo A250 has a 5-inch Full HD display with aluminum chassis, 1.5GHz quad-core processor, 2GB of RAM and a 13MP rear-facing camera. The internal hardware sounds pretty decent for a phone costing Rs. 19,990.
The Canvas Turbo A250 is a clear winner, as consumers who had tasted the Canvas HD may like to upgrade to a better smartphone with premium hardware. The Canvas 4 was not an incremental update over the Canvas HD. So yes, those of you who are planning to purchase a Full HD smartphone this festival season under Rs. 25,000 can either choose the Canvas Turbo A250 or Gionee Elife E6. By the way, the Gionee E6 is available at a price point of Rs. 23,000.
Before proceeding further, let's have a quick look at the internal specifications of Micromax Canvas Turbo A250. The Canvas Turbo A250 is indeed checking out. The phone has a 5-inch IPS FHD display having resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels. Under the hood, you will notice a 1.5GHz processor powered by MediaTek (MT6589T) and 2GB of RAM. If Micromax had used a 1.5GHz quad-core processor coupled with 1GB of RAM, then frankly it would be impossible to play high-ticket games on this device.
With 2GB of RAM fitted inside the Canvas Turbo A250; expect the performance to be balanced. Android 4.2 Jelly Bean comes out of the box. Users will be able to download regular updates via FOTA or over-the-air. The makers have added a 2000mAh Li Ion battery with 7 hours of talk time promised. For camera enthusiasts, a 13-megapixel rear-facing camera with Auto Focus and LED Flash and a 5-megapixel front-facing camera should be okay.
The rear-facing camera is capable of recording videos in Full HD format (1920 x 1080). The ROM stands at 16GB, which can be further expanded up to 32GB via a microSD card slot. The phone also comes up with selective pre-loaded apps: M! Live, M! Security, M! Unlock, Games (Fruit Devil, Dark Man, Jelly jumper), Kingsoft, Spuul, Hike, Game Hub, Opera Mini, Look Away, FOTA, BBM, iFloat. Moreover, Micromax has signed an agreement with BlackBerry to bundle BBM (BlackBerry messenger) on Canvas range of devices. Like the Canvas 4, this very phone also supports smart gesture control features.
The Canvas Turbo A250 also offers an array of connectivity options: Bluetooth 4.0, 3G, 2G, Wi-Fi, GSM, Dual SIM, Micro USB, 3.5mm headphone jack and much more. The 5-inch FHD phone will be made available in two color options: Midnight Blue and Pristine White. The actual retail availability of Canvas Turbo A250 will commence starting October 26.
Apart from Micromax, there are other local players who have already launched their first Full HD smartphones. Spice, Gionee, Karbonn, iBerry and many others are selling their respective FHD handsets for quite long time. Recently, Zen Mobile has released its first ever Full HD Android-based smartphone, the Ultrafone 701 FHD in India. In the coming days, we might hear an announcement from Karbonn, who is also gearing up to announce its second FHD handset in the Indian market. Stay tuned to GizBot for more updates!
