The popular Line messaging app that was introduced in the Indian market in 2011 will have a new and popular face now.
In order to compete with other free massaging apps the company is roping in a new brand ambassador for next year. The Dhoom 3 actress Katrina Kaif who has her hands full with the Xperia brand from Sony will now be the Line app brand ambassador. The company is expected to launch a new TV commercial featuring Katrina this week.
Line has also tied-up with Sony India and will come pre-installed on the Sony Xperia Z1 and Xperia C smartphones, while Sony Music Entertainment will open official accounts on Line, reports Jagran.
Katrina will be competing with Parineti Chopra and Varun Dhawan who are endorsing Line app's competitor We Chat free messaging app.
The messaging app facing competition from WeChat, Whatsapp is a free service for making voice calls, sharing video and audio files and fun stickers.
Line messaging app claims to have a staggering 230 million users across the globe with 20 per cent of its users in Japan only. The company has a presence in 55 countries including India, Thailand, Taiwan, Indonesia and Spain.
