TABLET UPSTART Microsoft has bravely pitted its Surface RT tablet against the iPad in its latest commercial, and is claiming that its device is the better of the two. No, it's not April Fools day, and it seems that despite the $900m hit Microsoft took on unsold Surface RT tablets the firm really thinks the Surface RT is better than the latest Apple iPad. The 80 second ad starts out with a screen comparison, and Microsoft is keen to point out that at 10.6in, its Surface RT's display is larger than the iPad's 9.7in screen, apparently making it the winner in this category. What Microsoft failed to mention however was screen resolution, with the iPad boasting a 2048x1536 resolution Retina display, compared to the Surface RT's 1366x768 screen. Next up, Microsoft touts the fact that its tablet comes with an integrated kickstand and a keyboard, whereas the iPad 4 has neither. Of course, Microsoft didn't mention that you have to pay extra for the Surface RT keyboard, or that you can buy a keyboard to go with the Apple iPad. The comparisons continue, and Microsoft, which seems to think it has made the better of the two tablets, continues its assault by criticising the iPad for not having Microsoft Office, its apparent lack of multitasking and its lack of a full USB connector. Finally Microsoft makes a real point, and that is that its Surface tablet is cheaper at $349. However, it of course didn't mention that it is cheaper because it was forced to reduce the price due to lack of sales. Apple, on the other hand, sold 14.5 million tablets in the most recent quarter. ยต ![]() via Technology - Google News http://news.google.com/news/url?sa=t&fd=R&usg=AFQjCNFw6BHgT4nneOITp6Eotv-swI7Cjw&url=http://www.theinquirer.net/inquirer/news/2287852/microsft-claims-the-surface-rt-is-better-than-the-ipad-in-latest-advert | |||
