Humble Origin Bundle Offers EA Games Collection - Cinema Blend

If you are into playing games, saving money and helping out a handful of good causes, then you might want to take a look at the recently launched Humble Origin Bundle, sporting a heaping helping of games from multiple genres, a pay-what-you-want price tag, and proceeds going to support charities like the American Cancer Society and the Human Rights Campaign.

Running for the next 13 days, 21 hours, 26 minutes and 43 seconds (as of this writing), the Humble Origin Bundle offers six big games for all comers and an additional two for those willing to pay more than the overall average, currently resting at $4.53. As listed on the bundle site, these games represent more than $200 is sold separately at their regular price, leading me to wonder if, perhaps, gamers could dig just a little bit deeper to support some good causes. The current tally is up to nearly 230,000 bundles sold, and I expect that number will grow quite a bit over the course of the next couple of weeks.

So how about we take a look at those games?

First up is the wonderfully creepy survival horror game, Dead Space. While later installments in the series got quite a bit more shooty-shooty, the original kept your combat options limited and your ammo slowed to a trickle. Couple that with an amazingly well realized environment, some wonderfully grotesque enemies, clever scares that go against the grain of the genre and plenty of polish, and you have one of my favorite games to come out this entire generation. It doesn't hurt that the most recent entry in the series and still a wonderful action game, Dead Space 3, also makes an appearance in this bundle.

Speaking of generation favorites, my favorite driving game of the current generation, Burnout Paradise: The Ultimate Box, is also included. Explore an entire city via car or motorcycle, complete with crazy jumps, winding shortcuts and hidden destinations. In short, it's a finely-tuned arcade racer with a ridiculous number of things to see and do.

Also making an appearance in the bundle is the underground hit first-person platformer, Mirror's Edge, as well as modern FPS Medal of Honor and futuristic FPS, Crysis 2: Maximum Edition.

But, like I said, those who pay above the current average will also earn two additional games, The Sims 3 + Starter Pack and last year's mega-hit shooter, Battlefield 3.

As the bundle name implies, all of these games unlock on Origin and some will also allow you to grab them on Steam. You'll also get the soundtrack for Battlefield 3 and The Sims 3 no matter how much you pay. Finally, Origin and EA have opted to give their portion of the proceeds for this bundle to charity, including those listed above, as well as the American Red Cross, Watsi and the San Francisco AIDS Foundation.
