Vodafone offers free Twitter access for 3 months - Times of India

NEW DELHI: Vodafone India today announced its partnership with social networking website Twitter, wherein the second biggest telecom operator of India will offer free access to Twitter's Android app as well as its mobile website for a period of three months. Twitter will promote the 'no mobile internet charges' experience on Vodafone.

Vodafone and Twitter will prompt and inform customers on the applicable charges, especially when they are accessing links via their Twitter timeline and elsewhere on Twitter's network.

Speaking on this latest initiative, Vivek Mathur, chief commercial officer, Vodafone India, said, "Our partnership with Twitter and this offering is another step in our ongoing endeavour to make mobile internet more fun, smart, engaging and easy."

Rishi Jaitly, market director for Twitter India, said, "We are pleased to partner with Vodafone India to offer its subscribers a unique opportunity to use Twitter to follow the people and organizations they care about."

Vodafone India currently has over 95,000 followers on Twitter. The company initiated the first Twitter-based chat with Ravi Shastri during IPL 2013. It enabled fans to tweet Shastri a question on a live match, and get a personalized analysis from him. This resulted in over a 1,000 tweets to Ravi Shastri during the course of the IPL season.
