Reliance Communications to offer 3G services at 2G rates - Hindustan Times

Anil Ambani-led Reliance Communications (RCom) on Thursday reduced rate for 3G services by over 50%, bringing it on a par with 2G mobile Internet prices in all 13 circles where it offers 3G services.
From Thursday midnight, the company will shift all customers of 2G Internet services
who have 3G-enabled phones to 3G services automatically. They will be charged according to 2G rates.

For example, they will get a tariff of 1GB data download for Rs. 123 instead of Rs. 250.

“Only one fourth of people who own 3G phones truly use 3G services. There is huge barrier to affordability,” said Gurdeep Singh, president and CEO, wireless division, RCom.
