Pre-Order Microsoft's New Xbox One Controller for $60 - PC Magazine

Xbox One Controller

In preparation for the late 2013 launch of its new Xbox One, Microsoft has opened pre-orders for a handful of accessories for the next-gen console.

The updated Xbox One controller, "with over 40 innovations," is now available for $59.99 in the Microsoft Store, which is also selling the controller bundled with a Play and Charge Kit for $74.99 (the kit is also sold separately for $24.99).

Gamers can also pick up a Chat Headset for $24.99, and a Day One 12-month Xbox Live Gold Membership, with multiplayer options, Skype, and more, for $59.99.

Xbox users, take heed: Existing Xbox 360 accessories will not be compatible with the upcoming Xbox One, which includes a revamped Kinect. So, for your added gaming needs, head to the Microsoft Store to purchase new controllers and headsets.

The Xbox One, listed online with a "November 2013" release date, is available for pre-order now for $499.99.

Redmond introduced its next-generation gaming and entertainment device in May, revealing the built-in Kinect sensor — "now an essential and integrated part of the platform," the company said. The Xbox One includes an 8-core CPU, 8GB of system memory, and a 500GB hard disc drive, as well as the oft-requested Blu-ray drive, 802.11 wireless with Wi-Fi Direct, HDMI in/out, and USB 3.0.

The Xbox One is already poised to overtake its predecessor, the Xbox 360, in terms of pre-orders, according to Microsoft. Sony's PlayStation 4 is also slated for release later this year and will go head to head with Redmond's best-selling machine. The new PS4 controller is also up for pre-order on Amazon for $60.
