Click Here For New Smartphones Gallery LG has recently been reported to have it's Windows phone device on it's initial R&D phase and obviously their Optimus G Pro that was recently launched in India at Rs. 42,500 is sure to battle in the Android arena. Moreover, the rumors of LG upcoming Windows Phone 8 handsets was actually confirmed by LightReadingIndia. The folks over there reported, LG India's Managing Director Kwon Soon said "At home (South Korea), we are actually working on our Windows Phone 8 OS powered smartphone,". However, LG is evidently one of the major Android device maker, thus the official further added saying that the company would retain their interest in Android platform. So far, Nokia is one and only giant manufacturer which is popularising the Windows Phone 8 trend. The colorful Nokia Lumia series have not only wowed the users with its attractive looks but also has been spreading the words of Microsoft's mobile operating system among others. It is apparent, that Samsung has already been influenced with the OS, thus being out in the wild with most of the major devices powered by Android platform, it has not flinched to shake hands with Windows. However in Samsung's case, Android is taken into priority than Windows despite having Samsung Omnia M, Samsung ATIV S and the latest Ativ S Neo in its pocket. Not only Samsung, but even HTC has a few device powered by Windows like HTC 8S and HTC 8X but has a similar attitude towards it. The question lies on the fact that, despite having a success over the Android platform, why are manufacturers not being able to ignore Microsoft's Windows Phone 8 OS? To talk in terms of figures, reports from Kantar says that the Windows Phone usage went up to 5.6% globally in April 2013, from 3.7% in April 2012. while talking about Android, during the third quarter of 2012, it's worldwide smartphone market share was 75% and as of March 2013, Android's share of the global smartphone market, led by Samsung products, was 64%. This figure can probably show the profit and loss section of the two OS. Even comparing from the app market point of view Microsoft yet has to work on increasing the number of apps for their OS because iOS and Android still occupy the top two market place. Moreover, the reason behind pocketing a few number of Windows Phone 8 device could possible mean only one thing, that is to have itself in a good books of the giant software builder.
