LG Optimus G Pro LG launched their Galaxy Note II competitor phablet LG Optimus G Pro in India today and the phone definitely packs a punch! LG Optimus G Pro is definitely a premium gadget but comes with specifications to match the price and the hype. Seen as a Samsung Galaxy Note II competitor, the phablet was announced in February this year and was launched in major markets in April. However, there was no word on the Indian launch and looks like albeit a couple of months late, the phone is finally here with a bang. LG Optimus G Pro comes with a 5.5-inch capacitive display. The screen is a True Full HD IPS Plus LCD capacitive touchscreen with a resolution of 1080 x 1920 pixels. While the screen size is the same as Samsung Galaxy Note, the clarity and pixel resolution is better on LG Optimus G Pro. The LG phablet skips the S-pen or the Samsung stylus that comes with the Samsung Galaxy Note II though. The phone runs on the latest Android version Jelly Bean 4.2 out of the box. Once again an improvement over Samsung as the Samsung Galaxy Note II comes with Android 4.1 Jelly Bean out of the box (though it is upgradable to Jelly Bean 4.2). LG Optimus G Pro Under the hood runs a Quad-core 1.7 GHz Krait 300 Snapdragon 600 processor. The LG Optimus G Pro comes with 32 GB internal memory expandable up to an additional 64 GB via MicroSD card slot. The RAM is 2 GB. The phone is better in hardware features too, as compared to Samsung Galaxy Note II which comes with a 1.6 GHz Cortex A9 processor. However, when it comes to internal memory, Samsung Galaxy Note II wins hands down as the phone comes in multiple internal memory variants apart from supporting a 64 GB memory card. LG Optimus G Pro comes with a 13 MP rear end snapper with LED flash and 2.1 MP front camera for video calling. The phone supports full HDR dual-video recording at 1080p@30fps. The camera supports geo-tagging, face detection, image stabilization, panorama, HDR modes. The rear end camera, when it comes to specifications, sure sounds better than Samsung Galaxy Note II. However, the comparison when it comes to image quality is yet to be tested. The phone is available in two colours: Black and White and is lighter than Samsung Galaxy Note II at 172 grams. The battery of the LG Optimus G Pro leaves nothing to be desired at 3140 mAh. LG Optimus G Pro LG Optimus G Pro, when it comes to specifications, sure sounds better and stronger than Samsung Galaxy Note II. However, in India, a lot of the phone's success might depend on the pricing. LG still has to carve its niche in India as Samsung dominates the market and has a blind following. LG has priced the phone at a whopping Rs 42,500. Considering the features and specifications are better than Samsung Galaxy Note II, the pricing can't be argued. However, LG is fighting a losing battle against Samsung in the Indian market right now and it might have been wise for LG to price the phone in a slightly lower segment.
