Vodafone cuts net tariff by 80% for some users - Hindustan Times

Vodafone, India's second-largest GSM mobile service provider, on Tuesday reduced mobile Internet access charges by 80% for subscribers of its 2G services who have very low usage.

The new rates will be applicable in Karnataka, UP (West), Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh. The new charges will be implemented in the rest of the country in a phased manner, the  company said.

Under the new scheme, data access rates have been cut from 10paise/10KB to 2paise/10KB, making internet usage cheaper for limited users.

Spokespersons of Bharti Airtel and Reliance Communications declined to comment, though sources said they may be forced to follow suit.
